Colorado Springs: Westside Community “Saleabration” Block Party to take place Saturday

Trending...
~ The Westside Community Center (WCC) is gearing up for their second annual Community Saleabration Block Party, set to take place on Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to noon. As part of the City's 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative, this free family event will feature a community-wide yard sale, swap meet, food trucks and live music.

The WCC has been a hub for building a stronger and more connected neighborhood since it began operating under the City of Colorado Springs three years ago in June. Through a public-private partnership, the community center has been able to integrate feedback from residents' recommendations while also receiving staffing and funding from the City. This unique partnership also allows for revenue-generating opportunities through external partners and nonprofit organizations.

In collaboration with co-host Hey Neighbor and various community organizations, the City of Colorado Springs is encouraging residents to host neighborhood gatherings this summer as part of their 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative. Launched in May 2024, this initiative aims to address mental health by promoting social connections within neighborhoods.

This year's block party will offer several new ways for neighbors to gather and connect with one another. From park gatherings to safety gatherings, volunteer gatherings and traditional neighborhood gatherings, there are plenty of opportunities for residents to come together in a safe and welcoming environment.
