On September 6, 2025, at approximately 11:09 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call for service regarding shots fired in the 1200 Block of Potter Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they located one individual deceased with at least one gunshot wound, and another individual with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound who was transported to an area hospital.
On September 8, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased male and identified him as 29-year-old Ismael Rivera-Mora. While the coroner's office will determine the cause and manner of death, this is being investigated as a homicide. A photo of Mr. Rivera-Mora has been provided by his family.
