From June 16 ~ In the coming weeks, motorists in downtown Colorado Springs can expect some lane closures on Tejon Street and surrounding streets as two important pipelines are installed as part of the Tejon Street Revitalization Project.
Starting from June 16 to June 27, both northbound and southbound lanes on Tejon Street between Colorado and Pikes Peak Avenues will be closed to allow for the installation of a new stormwater pipeline. This is a crucial step in improving the city's infrastructure and addressing potential flooding issues.
Following this, from June 23 to July 2, Colorado Springs Utilities will be relocating a natural gas main to make way for the stormwater pipeline. As a result, the southbound lane of Tejon Street (including the center lane) from Kiowa Street to Pikes Peak Avenue will be closed. This means that during this period, southbound Tejon Street will only be open between Kiowa Street and Pikes Peak Avenue.

The project will also have additional impacts on traffic flow in the area. Eastbound Pikes Peak Avenue, between Cascade Avenue and South Tejon Street, will be closed except for local traffic that needs access to the large parking lot, U.S. Bank, and businesses west of South Tejon Street. Additionally, street parking on the west side of Tejon Street between East Kiowa Street and Pikes Peak Avenue will not be available. Parking on Tejon Street between Pikes Peak and Colorado Avenues will also remain unavailable.
However, westbound Pikes Peak Avenue will remain open from South Nevada Avenue to South Cascade Avenue. Motorists are advised to expect heavy equipment in the area during construction.
To ease any inconvenience caused by these closures, the City has provided vouchers for two hours of free parking at its three parking garages. More information about parking options during this project can be found at coloradosprings.gov/TejonStParkingIncentives.
The Tejon Street Revitalization Project, which aims to expand outdoor dining areas and sidewalks, is part of the city's efforts to increase public safety, pedestrian accessibility, and business activity.
