~ Colorado Springs - Starting on Monday, March 24, the Tejon Street Revitalization Project will begin, resulting in the closure of northbound Tejon Street between Colorado Avenue and Pikes Peak Avenue until late June. This project aims to improve public safety, increase accessibility, and stimulate business activity in the area.
According to city officials, motorists and pedestrians can expect several changes during this time. The northbound lane of Tejon Street on Block 1 will be closed to vehicles, while the southbound lane will remain open for travel. Additionally, street parking in Block 1 will be unavailable and drivers are advised to utilize one of the three City garages that offer parking for $1 per hour. It should be noted that Block 2 (Pikes Peak Avenue to Kiowa Street) will retain on-street parking and north-south traffic until further notice.
In order to accommodate the construction work, left and right turns from Colorado onto northbound Tejon will also be closed. Mountain Metro's ZEB route will continue with a detour and the northbound stop on Tejon at Colorado will be temporarily removed during work on Block 1.

On March 25, crews are expected to remove trees along Tejon Street between Colorado Avenue and Kiowa Street. Motorists are advised to allow room for two large trucks to work in the area. Parking restrictions may also be implemented while tree work is ongoing.
To ensure safe access to local businesses in the project zone, temporary pedestrian walkways will be established. These businesses plan to remain open during construction.
Due to safety reasons, parking on the first block of construction cannot be permitted. However, impacted businesses will offer limited vouchers worth two free hours of City garage parking for customers. More information about parking options during the project can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/TejonStParkingIncentives.
