~ The City of Colorado Springs and Downtown Partnership are excited to announce the return of one of Downtown's most beloved winter traditions - Skate in the Park. The outdoor ice rink, located at Acacia Park, will open its doors to the public on Friday, November 14th. This family-friendly attraction has become a staple in the community, welcoming thousands of residents and visitors each winter.
To kick off the opening night, the annual Acacia Park Holiday Celebration will take place at 6 p.m. The event is free and will feature performances by the Soli Deo Gloria Choir, as well as remarks from Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley and Mayor Yemi Mobolade. Community partners will also be present, along with a DJ and a special performance by U.S. Figure Skating junior athletes.
The public skating sessions on opening day are scheduled for 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with tickets priced at $15 per session including skate rental. Children 4 years old and under can skate for free with a paid adult, while guests with a valid military or first responder ID can enjoy a $2 discount.
