Colorado Springs: CSPD and Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind continue partnership through annual Goalball Game and equipment donation

~ The Colorado Springs Police Department and the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind will hold their annual goalball game on Monday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the school's gym, 33 North Institute Street.

The event gives officers and students an opportunity to compete and connect outside traditional law enforcement settings, CSPD said. Goalball is a team sport in which players rely on sound, communication and awareness rather than sight. Police participants will wear blackout goggles to play against CSDB athletes.

CSPD will donate two goalballs and 12 blackout goggles to the school through the Peyton Manning PeyBack Foundation, according to the department. The equipment will be available for students to use in developing their skills and participating in the sport.

Before the game, the police chief or members of the department's command staff will give opening remarks and present commemorative CSPD challenge coins to two CSDB seniors.

The department said the annual event is part of its effort to build relationships with Colorado Springs residents and support programs that promote teamwork, inclusion and connection.
