The Voices in the Dark continues the story begun in Jonah and Merrick House, called "an especially and unreservedly recommended pick" for young readers ages 10–14 by Children's Bookwatch
DENVER - ColoradoDesk -- Colorado author Michael Jonathan Hyde has published The Voices in the Dark (The Found Children, Book Two), the sequel to his middle-grade fantasy Jonah and Merrick House. The first book was reviewed by Children's Bookwatch, the review publication of the Midwest Book Review, which called it "Original, deftly crafted, and a fun read from start to finish" and "an especially and unreservedly recommended pick for middle school and community library collections for young readers ages 10-14."
Two children are calling in the dark. One is a boy in the north, overwhelmed by feelings that aren't his own. The other is a girl in the south who has spent her life being forgotten. At thirteen, a gift wakes — and while it is waking, it shines, bright enough for Merrick House to find, and bright enough for the man who collects such children to find, too. No gifted child can go after them without leading the enemy straight to them, so the rescue falls to the one child with no gift at all: Marcus, the ordinary boy the collector cannot find.
