Colorado Springs: City to observe Presidents’ Day Monday, Feb. 17

~ As Presidents' Day approaches, the City of Colorado Springs has announced that several administrative and elected offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17 in observance of the holiday.

According to the city's press release, the following facilities will be fully closed on Presidents' Day: administrative offices for Mountain Metropolitan Transit (although buses will still operate on their regular schedule), City Administration Building, City Clerk, City Hall, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, Deerfield Hills, Hillside, Meadows Park and Westside community centers, Memorial Park Recreation Center, Municipal Court, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Administrative Building, Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Sales Tax Office, Sertich Ice Center, Sports Office at Memorial Park, Starsmore Discovery and Nature Center and Therapeutic Recreation Programs at Westside Community Center.

However, some facilities will remain open for normal business hours unless otherwise noted. These include Colorado Springs Fire Department fire stations and Colorado Springs Police Department substations. Additionally Evergreen and Fairview cemeteries will have their gates open to visitors but their offices will be closed.

Garden of the Gods Park will also remain open for visitors but it should be noted that construction is currently in progress and certain trails and roads may be closed. For updated information on closures due to construction visit ColoradoSprings.gov/GOGWaterlineProject.

For those looking to enjoy some outdoor activities on Presidents' Day, Patty Jewett and Valley Hi golf courses will be open starting at 9 a.m., weather permitting. The indoor dining option at Patty Jewett Bar & Grill will also be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while CADDIES at Valley Hi will offer indoor dining from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For those wanting to take in the beautiful views of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain - the uphill gates will open at 9 a.m., with the last entry at 3 p.m. The summit will close at 4 p.m. and downhill gates will close at 5 p.m. Visitors are advised to plan their visit by calling 719-385-7325 for weather conditions and closures.

As the city takes a day to honor past presidents, residents are reminded to check the city's website for any updates or changes in facility hours due to inclement weather.
