~ Colorado Springs City Council has announced a change in meeting times for both Work Sessions and Regular Meetings, effective November 12, 2024. The meetings will now begin at 9:00 a.m., an hour earlier than the previous start time of 10:00 a.m.
The decision to adjust the meeting times was made in order to better accommodate Citizen Discussion for Items not on Agenda. In recent months, the City Council has seen an increase in community members wanting to discuss various topics. This change aims to provide a more consistent and convenient time for citizens to voice their opinions and concerns.
According to Randy Helms, City Council President, the council values and encourages citizens to speak up and address their elected officials in a public forum. He believes that this is an important outlet for people to have their voices heard. "With this change, we can better serve our constituents by giving them a more stable time so they can continue with their day instead of waiting to speak to Council," Helms stated.

Under the new schedule, Regular Meetings will take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, with the Work Session occurring on the preceding Monday. However, this schedule is subject to change. To stay updated on meeting dates and times, citizens are encouraged to check the City Council calendar of events at ColoradoSprings.gov/CityCouncil.
It should be noted that due to Veteran's Day falling on November 11th, both the Work Session and Regular Meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 12th at 9:00 a.m.
All City Council meetings will continue to be broadcasted live on SpringsTV via Comcast Channel 18 and 880 (HD), as well as on Facebook Live through the Colorado Springs City Council Page (@coscitycouncil).
Citizens who wish to speak at an upcoming Regular Meeting are encouraged (but not required) to sign up in advance by emailing allcouncil@coloradosprings.gov or calling 719-385-5480.
This change in meeting times reflects the City Council's commitment to better serve and engage with the community. By providing a more consistent and accessible time for Citizen Discussion, the council hopes to foster a stronger relationship with its constituents.
