Colorado Springs Airport Sees Decline in Fall Travel

Trending...
~ According to recent data released by the Colorado Springs Airport (COS), there has been a decrease in passenger traffic for the month of September. A total of 199,735 passengers traveled through the airport, marking an 8.3 percent decrease from the same period last year.

Enplanements, or the number of passengers boarding flights at COS, also saw a decline of 7.8 percent with a 7 percent reduction in available seats compared to last year. However, despite these decreases for September, year-to-date enplanements are still showing a strong increase of 9.3 percent and seats are up by 9.6 percent.

The average load factor for September was reported at 79.6 percent, slightly lower than last year by 0.7 percent. This can be attributed to the slower travel months of September and October, which fall within the shoulder season for travel and occur just before the busy holiday travel period.

Looking ahead, COS will be offering seasonal service to San Diego (SAN) and San Antonio (SAT) for the holiday months on peak days in November, December, and January. Travelers are encouraged to plan their holiday and spring trips early as most airlines have already released their spring schedules.

In addition to these seasonal routes, COS offers six daily nonstop flights with easy connecting service across the U.S. and worldwide. There is also twice daily nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL), daily nonstop service to Salt Lake City (SLC), and daily nonstop flights to Baltimore/Washington (BWI).

For those looking for an easy way to reach the nation's capital, Southwest's Baltimore/Washington (BWI) flight is also available from COS. With three daily nonstop destinations and connections coast-to-coast and worldwide, travelers have numerous flight options when planning their holiday travels.

Overall, despite a slight decrease in passenger traffic for September, COS continues to offer convenient and accessible flight options for travelers. With a variety of nonstop routes and connections, the airport remains a popular choice for those traveling to and from Colorado Springs.
