DENVER ~ Denver - As the 2026 Legislative Session came to a close, Governor Jared Polis celebrated the end of his term as governor. During this session, lawmakers tackled some of the most pressing challenges facing the state of Colorado.

One of the major accomplishments of this session was the passing of new laws that will have a significant impact on the lives of Coloradans. The HOME Act, for example, will break down barriers to lower housing costs and create more housing opportunities for first responders to live in the communities they serve. Some specific laws that were passed include allowing non-profits, schools, and local governments to create housing on underutilized land, expanding home ownership opportunities, and encouraging more housing near transportation options through innovative financing and critical infrastructure investments.
