ENGLEWOOD/AURORA ~ ENGLEWOOD/AURORA - Governor Jared Polis made a visit to Charles Hay World School in Englewood today to learn more about the positive impact of Zearn, an online digital math accelerator tool, on students and teachers. During his visit, he had the opportunity to hear from both students and teachers about how Zearn has helped improve math achievement.
According to Governor Polis, Zearn is revolutionizing the way Colorado students learn math and producing impressive results. The platform utilizes technology to empower learning and set students up for success in math. He expressed his excitement for districts to continue using this resource and looks forward to seeing further improvements in math scores.
In his recent budget proposal submitted to the Joint Budget Committee, Governor Polis included a request for $2 million to assist districts in purchasing and utilizing Zearn. After his visit at Charles Hay World School, Governor Polis made his way to the Village Exchange Center in Aurora. This non-profit organization provides a range of services for families in the community, including food access, vaccination clinics, workforce development, and housing assistance. As part of his visit, Governor Polis dropped off a food donation that was collected at the State's Third Annual Turkey Pardon event and throughout the week of November 10-14.
During his time at the Village Exchange Center, Governor Polis emphasized the importance of community support during this holiday season. He acknowledged that due to recent federal instability with food access through SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), food banks and pantries like the one at Village Exchange are crucial for communities. He encouraged all Coloradans to find ways to give back this Thanksgiving season.
Governor Polis' visits to Charles Hay World School and the Village Exchange Center showcase his commitment to supporting Colorado students and families. With Zearn and community support, he hopes to see continued progress in math achievement and a brighter future for all Coloradans.
