STATEWIDE ~ In a move to provide urgent support for response efforts to the Alexander Mountain and Currant Creek Fires, Governor Polis has taken executive action this afternoon. The governor has given verbal declarations of disaster emergency, activating the State Emergency Operations Plan and directing the Department of Public Safety and its Divisions of Emergency Management (OEM) and Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) to take necessary actions.

The State of Colorado is taking a comprehensive approach in supporting the response, management, and containment of not only the Alexander Mountain and Currant Creek Fires but also the Stone Canyon Fire in Boulder County, the Ed Joe Draw Fire in San Miguel County, and the Currant Creek Fire in Delta County. This includes deploying resources such as FIREHAWK® helicopters, air tankers, multi-mission aircrafts, fire engines, firefighter crews, intelligence and management support, communications support, road closure assistance, traffic control, shelter and volunteer support, veterinary medical teams, and drone operations. Federal aviation resources are also being utilized along with a helicopter from Douglas County.
