DENVER ~ Governor Polis of Colorado has issued an order for all public buildings in the state to lower their flags to half-staff until sunset today, December 4, 2025. This is in honor of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a member of the West Virginia Army National Guard who was tragically killed while on duty.

The Governor's decision follows a Presidential proclamation from Donald J. Trump, who has ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public buildings and grounds, as well as military posts and naval stations throughout the country. This order will also be observed at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad.

Specialist Beckstrom's death has deeply affected both her home state of West Virginia and the nation as a whole. She bravely served her country and made the ultimate sacrifice while doing so.
