CCIA & CALSTART Announce Call for Applications for the 2021 Commercial Vehicle Cleantech Challenge

Businesses with innovative solutions for the commercial vehicle industry are encouraged to apply.

BOULDER, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- The Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) and CALSTART are now accepting applications for the Commercial Vehicle Cleantech Challenge (CVCC), a market-driven showcase to be held virtually on June 24, 2021.

Following on the successful first year of the CVCC  in 2019, this challenge provides an opportunity for direct, high-value connections between leaders in the trucking industry, and innovative new and renewable technology solutions. Companies selected for participation in the program have the opportunity to present directly to industry representatives and the winning company receives a cash prize.

"Transportation and mobility are at a pivotal juncture and we are excited to host the Commercial Vehicle Cleantech Challenge, which will showcase the power of bringing together inspiring innovators with sector leaders to promote technology, efficiency and accessibility," said Helen El Mallakh, CCIA's Executive Director. "Hosting this Cleantech Challenge in a virtual format will further advance cleaner technology at a local and global level while addressing industry needs and enhancing collaboration."

This year, CCIA has partnered with CALSTART to host CVCC, along with industry partners and sponsors Toyota, Eaton, Navistar, Kenworth, GM, NextEra Energy, the Consulate General of Canada in Denver, RMI, Denver Metro Clean Cities, National Renewable Energy Lab, E Source, NACFE, and the Colorado Hydrogen Network.

The application is now open for cleantech companies to showcase their innovative products and technologies. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

Infrastructure for Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) charging

Infrastructure for Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) charging

Cost reduction for electrification of the powertrain

Vehicle automation & connectivity

Driver attraction, retention, & health

On-vehicle hydrogen performance and cost

Truck and trailer refrigeration

Last mile truck productivity

Interested cleantech companies will enter a competitive vetting process, after which 10-12 companies will be invited to present their technologies to our partners.
