~ Colorado Springs Airport Sets New Record for Enplanements in 2024
The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has ended the year 2024 on a high note, with a record-breaking number of enplanements. According to the latest statistics, the airport saw a total of 102,621 enplaned passengers in December alone, bringing the total for the year to an impressive 1,239,094. This marks an increase of over five percent compared to the previous year and sets a new record for COS.
This achievement comes as no surprise, as the airport had already recorded its highest number of enplanements since 1999 in 2023. However, this year's numbers have surpassed that milestone and exceeded expectations. In addition to the increase in enplanements, there was also a 5.4 percent rise in available seats in the market and a slight increase in average load factor to 81.4 percent.
Greg Phillips, Director of Aviation at COS, expressed his excitement about the airport's success. "It's no secret that we had a strong year last year, and we continue to exceed our enplanement numbers," he said. "It's a fantastic way to close out the year, and with new flights being added, we're forecasting similar success for 2025."

In December alone, a total of 206,773 passengers passed through COS. While this represents a decrease of 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year, it is still an impressive number considering the ongoing challenges faced by the aviation industry due to COVID-19. Additionally, there was also a slight reduction of 0.9 percent in available seats.
One of COS's notable achievements in 2024 was its inaugural international route to Cancun with Southwest Airlines. The airport also announced plans for a new Federal Inspection Services (FIS) facility that is set to be completed before the launch of this service in June. Furthermore, Allegiant Airlines will be returning to COS in February 2025 with three new routes, providing even more travel options for passengers.
The airport's concourse modernization project, ElevateCOS, has also made significant progress in 2024. The first two phases have been successfully completed, and the project is now moving into its third phase.
In addition to these accomplishments, COS has also announced several nonstop route updates for 2025. These include seasonal flights to Phoenix/Mesa (AZA), Santa Ana/Orange County (SNA), and Tampa/St. Petersburg (PIE) starting in February. There will also be six daily nonstop flights with easy connecting service across the U.S. and worldwide.

Furthermore, service to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) will begin on June 5, 2025, with twice daily nonstop flights to Atlanta (ATL) and daily nonstop flights to Salt Lake City (SLC). Seasonal service to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) will resume in June 2025, and there will be weekly nonstop seasonal flights to Cancun, Mexico starting on June 7.
Passengers can also look forward to daily nonstop flights to Baltimore/Washington (BWI), as well as seasonal service to San Diego (SAN) and San Antonio (SAT) on peak days in November, December, and January. Additionally, there will be daily nonstops to Denver (DEN) with easy connections coast-to-coast and three daily nonstop destinations with easy connections coast-to-coast and worldwide.
With a promising outlook for 2025 and a strong track record of success, the Colorado Springs Airport continues to solidify its position as a top choice for travelers in the region.
