STATEWIDE ~ Colorado State Takes Comprehensive Approach to Fight Wildfires
The State of Colorado is taking a proactive and coordinated approach to combat the ongoing wildfires across the front range and western slope. The state is currently responding to fires in San Miguel, Delta, Boulder, and Larimer Counties, while also monitoring for any new fires.
Governor Jared Polis expressed his gratitude towards the first responders and various agencies working tirelessly to protect Colorado communities and lands. He emphasized that fire safety is a statewide effort and urged all Coloradans to practice caution at all times. The state government is committed to protecting its citizens, communities, and preventing costly damage.
In San Miguel County, the Ed Joe Draw Fire has been contained with the help of a Type 2 helicopter and crew, a multi-mission aircraft (MMA), firefighter crews, intelligence and management support, traffic control, road closure assistance, and more. The state Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, State Patrol, and Department of Transportation are all playing crucial roles in this operation.
