~ Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has made significant progress in their investigation into the fatal traffic crash that occurred on March 22, 2026, on Briargate Boulevard near Lexington Drive. As a result, two individuals have been charged in connection with the death of 77-year-old Deanna Stemler.
On May 21, 2026, CSPD obtained arrest warrants for Jerome Archer, 48, and Leeanaya Joey Martinez, 18. Archer turned himself in on the same day and was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail. He is accused of causing the fatal crash while participating in an illegal street racing event and is facing multiple charges including causing a death while participating in an illegal speed contest.
