~ On the evening of July 16, 2026, a tragic traffic accident occurred on I-25 in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call at approximately 10:48 p.m. reporting a crash between Tejon Street and Cimarron Street.
According to preliminary investigations, a motorcycle traveling northbound on I-25 failed to navigate a curve and collided with the center median before crossing into the southbound lanes. Tragically, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Major Crash Team was immediately notified and responded to lead the investigation.
The deceased rider has been identified as 26-year-old Denzel Uylett, according to the El Paso County Coroner's Office. This marks the 34th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, compared to 30 at this time last year. In the past year alone, there have been a total of 57 traffic-related fatalities in the city.
