The committee, which advises on policy, planning, and funding priorities for the Housing and Community Vitality Department, is seeking one regular member and two alternates.

The Housing and Community Vitality Department is responsible for managing the city's investment of federal block grant funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These funds are used to support various programs, including homeless facilities and services, affordable housing initiatives, and neighborhood/community investments in areas such as Southeast Colorado Springs or the Mill Street neighborhood.

According to Mayor Mobolade, the department is looking for a diverse group of volunteers with expertise in a range of topics such as mental/behavioral health, addiction, housing finance, and marginalized or underserved populations. These individuals will play a crucial role in informing the upcoming 2025 Action Plan and Five-Year 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan.

The CDAC typically meets six to eight times per year on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 9th through the city's website at https://coloradosprings.gov/cdac. The mayor hopes to see broad representation from across the city on this important committee.
