~ Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) has received a significant contribution of $764,639 from the Garden of the Gods Foundation. The generous donation was announced during the Parks Advisory Board meeting on Thursday and will be used to fund various projects and activities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and preserving the natural beauty of Garden of the Gods Park.
According to Britt Haley, Director of PRCS, the department is extremely grateful for the continuous support and contributions from the Garden of the Gods Foundation. She stated that these funds will play a crucial role in improving Garden of the Gods Park and ensuring its natural beauty is celebrated and preserved for future generations.
The contribution will be used to support several key projects in 2025, including stormwater protection measures, maintaining ecological integrity, and fire mitigation efforts to enhance visitor and park safety. Additionally, a new vehicle for park rangers will be acquired to improve management and service for park visitors. The funding will also go towards installing trail wayfinding signage, conducting bird and bat studies to monitor local species, and supporting tribal consultations to engage indigenous voices in land stewardship.

In addition to these projects funded by the contribution, the Garden of the Gods Foundation has plans to install new directional signage and integrated murals at the pedestrian underpass beneath 30th Street. These murals, created by local artist Douglas Rouse, will provide clear navigation for both Garden of the Gods Park and Visitor and Nature Center.

She stated that this contribution highlights their dedication to funding essential projects that protect the park's unique landscape, improve visitor experiences, and preserve its legacy as a free and accessible place for all. 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the collaboration between the City of Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods Foundation. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, operates the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center, and proceeds from retail, food service, and program activities are used to support Garden of the Gods Park. Since its establishment, the Garden of the Gods Foundation has generated over $6.8 million in support of various capital projects in the park, such as paving Gateway Trail, constructing year-round restrooms in Parking Lot 2, and currently working on a waterline installation project.
