~ Colorado Springs Police Department Notifies Community of Sex Offender's Move

The Colorado Springs Police Department has announced that Clifford Wayne Chance, a registered sex offender, has moved to an address in Colorado Springs. According to Colorado law, the community must be notified of Chance's presence and status as a "Sexually Violent Predator" (SVP).

In order to comply with the law, the police department has taken several steps. They have notified the Colorado Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team and confirmed Chance's residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes. They have also made notifications to neighbors and businesses in the immediate area and briefed patrol personnel on Chance's status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles.

Surrounding law enforcement agencies have also been notified of Chance's presence. In addition, the police department has provided an online video that explains the SVP community notification process and provides resources for the community. The video can be found on the city's website under Public Safety and then Police.

The police department is committed to ensuring that Chance registers as a sex offender and understands his responsibilities as such. His criminal history includes convictions in 2014 for Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust- Victim Under 15, in 1997 for Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust- Victim Under 15, and in 1982 for Sexual Assault in the Second Degree.

Chance is currently registered as living at 329 Swope Ave. He is described as a white male who is 70 years old, 6'0" tall, weighing 150lbs with gray hair and blue eyes. He is one of twenty "Sexually Violent Predators" currently registered with the Colorado Springs Police Department who reside in this community.

The police department takes Chance's presence very seriously and is committed to ensuring that he conducts himself in a lawful manner and that the community remains safe and aware. Detective J.R.
