~ Colorado Springs Police Department Notifies Community of Sex Offender's Move
The Colorado Springs Police Department has announced that Clifford Wayne Chance, a registered sex offender, has moved to an address in Colorado Springs. According to Colorado law, the community must be notified of Chance's presence and status as a "Sexually Violent Predator" (SVP).
In order to comply with the law, the police department has taken several steps. They have notified the Colorado Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team and confirmed Chance's residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes. They have also made notifications to neighbors and businesses in the immediate area and briefed patrol personnel on Chance's status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles.
Surrounding law enforcement agencies have also been notified of Chance's presence. In addition, the police department has provided an online video that explains the SVP community notification process and provides resources for the community. The video can be found on the city's website under Public Safety and then Police.
