~ The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (PRCS) has announced the completion of the highly anticipated Duck Lake restoration project in Monument Valley Park. The department will be celebrating this milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at 959 Glen Avenue, near the Heritage Garden.

This project is a significant investment in one of the city's most historic park spaces. The restoration includes rebuilding the lake with a stone cap and installing a new aeration system. In addition, the original stonework on the historic levee wall has been cleaned and restored. The project also involved converting bluegrass turf to native vegetation, supported by a new irrigation system. To enhance the beauty of the park, four new flower beds have been added and access to the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail has been improved from both ends of the lake.

During the ceremony, Councilmember Nancy Henjum will join Haley in offering remarks. Members of the community are encouraged to attend this celebration and witness firsthand the revitalized lake.

The $1.5 million project was made possible through funding from TABOR 2B, Friends of Monument Valley Park, and Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) sales tax program. This collaboration highlights the strength of community partnerships in preserving important landmarks in Colorado Springs.

The Duck Lake restoration project is not only an investment in preserving history but also in creating a beautiful natural space for residents to enjoy for years to come.
