Colorado Springs: 2026 DiscoverCOS Calendar now available, proceeds to support local restoration

Trending...
~ The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department has announced the release of the 13th edition of the DiscoverCOS Calendar. This annual showcase celebrates the beauty and spirit of the local parks, open spaces, and community vistas through community photography.

Residents are invited each year to share their best photos of local parks, trails, and open spaces for a chance to be featured in the City's official calendar. This year, over 300 photo submissions were received from more than 100 local photographers. These stunning images capture breathtaking landscapes and quiet moments that reflect the wonder of Olympic City USA.

For the first time, proceeds from the DiscoverCOS Calendar will benefit a local environmental project through a suggested donation of $15 per calendar. "Each year, DiscoverCOS celebrates not just the natural beauty of Colorado Springs, but also the deep sense of connection residents feel to our shared public spaces," said Kim King, PRCS assistant director. "We're especially proud that this year's calendar supports local reforestation efforts, allowing art and stewardship to come together for a lasting impact."

The proceeds from calendar donations will support tree planting at Snyder Quarry in Black Canyon Open Space. This new 163-acre ecological site is managed by the City and aims to reforest a reclaimed landscape. The project will restore native habitat and create a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.

Residents can pick up their calendars in person at the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Administration Office for a suggested donation of $15 (credit card only; no cash or checks accepted). The office is located at 1401 Recreation Way in Colorado Springs and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
