The first bill, HB25-1053, also known as the Landowner Immunity for Emergency Access to Property, was sponsored by Representatives Tisha Mauro and Ron Weinberg, as well as Senators Janice Marchman and Mark Baisley. This bipartisan bill aims to remove barriers for emergency responders during times of crisis.
Governor Polis emphasized the importance of this bill in ensuring the safety of both responders and citizens. He stated, "Our brave firefighters and emergency responders put their lives on the line every day responding to emergencies and disasters...this new bipartisan law removes barriers to ensure that in times of crisis, our brave first responders can get where they are needed quickly and safely."
The governor also signed HB25-1002, or the Medical Necessity Determination Insurance Coverage bill. This bipartisan legislation was sponsored by Representatives Kyle Brown and Lindsay Gilchrist, as well as Senators Judy Amabile and Byron Pelton. According to Governor Polis, this new law will provide more transparency into how health insurers decide what services are covered and why.
