AVA Presents selected to manage and operate historic Colorado Springs City Auditorium

~ The City of Colorado Springs has announced that AVA Presents, a renowned venue management and live event production company, has been selected as the new managing operator for the historic City Auditorium. This decision comes after a thorough year-long process to find a qualified partner to revitalize and operate the downtown venue.

Originally built over a century ago, the City Auditorium was designed as a multi-purpose space to cater to the civic, cultural, and entertainment needs of the community. However, in recent years, the building has required significant maintenance and investment to restore it to its former glory.

After careful consideration by an internal City committee, AVA Presents emerged as the top choice. With decades of experience in managing venues and producing live events, they have a proven track record of successfully activating historic venues across the country.

Ryan Trujillo, Deputy Chief of Staff for the City of Colorado Springs, expressed his excitement about this partnership stating, "This is an important step forward in bringing new life to one of our most beloved civic buildings. This project reflects our commitment to thoughtful downtown investment through public-private partnerships to create improved cultural investments for all residents."

AVA Presents has ambitious plans for revitalizing the City Auditorium into a dynamic all-purpose venue that will host concerts, festivals, community events, and cultural programming. Their goal is not only to restore the historic space but also make it accessible, inclusive and vibrant - a creative hub that embodies the spirit of Colorado Springs and energizes the downtown core.

Jesse Morreale, Principal of AVA Presents and a native of Colorado Springs himself who attended Palmer High School just blocks away from the Auditorium said,"I am honored to be able to return this building back to my community as a destination for arts, culture and shared experiences. Our aim is not just to make it a concert venue but also a creative heartbeat for downtown."

The proposed lease agreement includes an initial five-year term with four optional five-year renewals, allowing for a potential partnership of up to 25 years. All capital improvement investments will be made by AVA Presents, and the City will not be required to contribute any funds towards maintenance or renovation of the property. The City will retain ownership of the building while AVA Presents oversees its renovation, restoration, and day-to-day operations and programming.

One of the key commitments made by AVA Presents is to reintegrate community and cultural programming into the venue's calendar. However, due to the nature of the lease involving what could be considered below fair market value, City Council approval is required to finalize the agreement.

The City of Colorado Springs is looking forward to this partnership with AVA Presents and is confident that their expertise and vision will bring new life to this historic landmark. With their plans for a vibrant and inclusive venue, the City Auditorium is set to become a cultural hub for all residents to enjoy.
