DENVER, Jan. 13, 2025 ~ Denver, CO - For the ninth consecutive year, Sport Clips Haircuts has presented a generous donation to the VFW Foundation, exceeding $1 million for their Help A Hero Scholarships program. The check presentation took place at the historic VFW Post 1 in downtown Denver, known for its dedication to honoring and empowering veterans. As part of the event, local veterans were also treated to free haircuts.

The donation of $1.33 million was presented by Sport Clips Haircuts CEO and President Edward Logan and Founder and Chairman Gordon Logan, who is also an Air Force veteran and VFW Life member. They were joined by members of the McMurdo family, who own 19 Sport Clips locations in Colorado, as well as local Sport Clips stylists. The check was received by VFW Foundation Executive Director Hal Roesch II and VFW Assistant Adjutant General Brian Walker.

The Help A Hero Scholarship program was launched in 2013 by veteran-founded Sport Clips and is administered by the VFW. It provides financial support for education to service members and veterans who are pursuing post-military careers when their G.I. Bill funds have been exhausted.

According to Gordon Logan, many recipients of the scholarship have expressed their gratitude for lightening their financial burden and allowing them to focus on their studies. "It's one of the primary reasons Sport Clips started the program," he said. "We are grateful for their sacrifice and service."

VFW National Commander Al Lipphardt also expressed his pride in partnering with Sport Clips to make a positive difference in the lives of veterans. He announced that 161 student veterans have received a total of $741,000 in Help A Hero Scholarships for the current spring semester.

In addition to thanking Sport Clips for their generous donation, the check presentation also served as an opportunity to recognize the McMurdo family for their ongoing support of the Help A Hero Scholarship program. The family, who owns 19 Sport Clips locations in Colorado, hosts an annual golf tournament in Castle Rock to raise funds for the program. Over the past seven years, their efforts have generated over $400,000 in donations.

Clients, individual supporters, and Sport Clips team members also made generous contributions. Product partners Direct Beauty Express, John Paul Mitchell Systems, Sexy Hair, Gibs Grooming, Actiiv, and American Crew also made substantial donations.
