Driving Out Poverty: Colorado Among the Lowest Poverty Rates in America

Trending...
DENVER ~ A recent report of Census data has revealed that Colorado has one of the lowest rates of poverty in the United States. With a poverty rate of 8.2%, the state ranks fifth among all states in the country.

Governor Jared Polis expressed his satisfaction with this achievement, stating that Colorado's efforts to create good-paying jobs, attract businesses, improve access to quality education, and grow its economy have contributed to this low poverty rate. He believes that these efforts have also increased opportunities for all residents.

The report also highlighted that other Northern and Plains states such as Utah, New Hampshire, and Minnesota have similarly low poverty rates at 6.7%, 7.1%, and 7.2% respectively. These states are benefitting from stronger labor markets, higher median wages, and better access to education and healthcare.
