~ Traffic on South 8th Street between Lower Gold Camp Road and Costilla Street will shift to the east side of the roadway beginning Monday, Oct. 12, as crews continue water main and road work, according to the project update.
One lane will remain open in each direction. The traffic pattern is expected to last about four weeks, and crews will also work Saturdays. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, slow down and follow posted signs.
Farther south, newly paved lanes between Motor City Drive and Abbot Lane are scheduled to open Monday. Traffic will move onto the lanes in their planned layout. Crews have replaced a 24-inch water main and installed drainage improvements intended to help reduce flooding during heavy rain, the update said.

Crews are expected to return to that section later this year to apply a final layer of asphalt and add permanent lane markings.
Access to local businesses will remain open and marked throughout the project area. Drivers should use caution in work zones and watch for flaggers directing traffic. Project updates and email or text alerts are available at ColoradoSprings.gov/8thStreet.
