~ The 8th Street bridge over Fountain Creek will have one lane open in each direction from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, while crews paint final lane markings, according to the project update. All lanes are expected to reopen in their final layout by 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Bridge work is nearly complete, while construction continues south of the bridge between Lower Gold Camp Road and Costilla Street. Crews are installing curbs, gutters, sidewalks, a water main and storm drains.
The right northbound lane on the Fountain Creek bridge is scheduled to close during the day Friday, Oct. 30. Moreno Avenue remains closed at South 8th Street on the west side; drivers can reach it via Lower Gold Camp Road. From Nov. 3 to 5, westbound Moreno Avenue east of South 8th Street will close for utility work. Drivers leaving businesses in the area can use the driveway to the south and Abbot Lane.

Traffic on South 8th Street is shifted to the east side between Lower Gold Camp Road and Costilla Street, with one lane open in each direction. The pattern is expected to remain until mid-November, when traffic will shift to the west side as crews work on the east side.
Bus stops 402, at South 8th Street and Costilla Street, and 403, at South 8th Street and Moreno Avenue, are temporarily closed. Riders can call 719-385-7433 for transit information. Drivers may encounter occasional daytime lane closures on Abbot Lane, and crews may work Saturdays.
The project update says access to local businesses remains open and marked. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, slow down in work zones and follow flaggers. Updates and alerts are available at ColoradoSprings.gov/8thStreet.
